Nice quality product. Got one for a friend and she loves it. Perfect to be able to remind yourself of the 4 agreements. They are printed in full on the back, which it does not mention in the write up.

I am mostly happy with these bookmarks. They are just a bit big for my preference. My biggest issue is with one of the tassels getting trapped in the package adhesive and upon carefully removing it, the ends of the tassel became frayed and the adhesive tearing off and attaching. I have not yet begun to remove the torn part of the package that stayed attached and I imagine it may cause further damage. I was unable to find an avenue of contacting the seller with this information and it seems I’m left with sending them all back or keeping them, including the one that is damaged.

I decided to buy a bookmark because the bookmark I had recently acquired had gone missing after only one tour of duty. I previously used four bookmarks, often simultaneously, but these had become wrinkled and bent with age. Don't get me wrong - when I placed one of them between the pages of a book I had temporarily stopped reading, then later picked up the book, I could still find the place in the book where I had left off, with exactly the same precision and timeliness as if the bookmark had been freshly printed and cut and slipped in a newly-purchased bag of books. But every now and then you just need to replace your bookmarks, you know? Besides, in recent years my reading had slowed down considerably, so the four wrinkled, bent bookmarks doubly reminded me of my inevitable hurtle toward aging, superfluity and death.Anyway, I have this fab new bookmark for which I have great plans, and then, after a week away, it's not there. It's nowhere. I looked in the books I had recently completed, I looked behind my nightstand, everywhere, to no avail. That's when I decided to take action...I cleaned out the drawer in my nightstand and found an old notepad upon which I had long ago written four pretty wise bits of advice. Then I decided to buy a bookmark.When I entered the term "bookmark" in the Amazon search bar, I was presented with numerous choices, none of which appealed to me. As I was about to give up, I saw this Four Agreements bookmark. I immediately recognized the Four Agreements as the bits of wisdom I had left on my notepad many years ago. I took that as a sign and immediately bought one. Then I thought, "Hey, why not rage, rage against the burning of the light, sort of, and buy two?" So I did.They showed up two days later, and to my surprise, turned out to be so much more than I'd expected. Not only do the actual bookmarks show the promise of being able to stay exactly in the book where I place them, they come packed in a plastic sleeve with a black cardboard backing, each of which makes an excellent bookmark in its own right. So now, instead of two new bookmarks replacing one lost bookmark (that had in itself replaced four), I had six.I have to admit, the black cardboard backing gave me pause, for two reasons. First, it's black. Obviously funereal. But also quite stylish. I decided to focus on the stylish. Second, it has a punch-out at the top, obviously intended to facilitate its hanging on the revolving book stands of airport gift shops and other such establishments. But, if looked at in a different light, it's also a pretty cool, art deco representation of a sunset over the ocean. Wait, that's going back to the pessimistic side...let's switch coasts and call it a sunrise over the ocean. So now I have a stylish bookmark depicting an art deco sunrise over the Atlantic.You'd think that would be the end of the story, wouldn't you? But it's not. As these things often turn out, as soon as I had received my new bookmarks, I found the missing bookmark that had started all of this. Now I had seven bookmarks, which, by anyone's standard, is too many. So I decided to do the right thing by my retired bookmarks - rather than put them in some drawer or tucked away between the pages of a book I'd already read and re-shelved (sort of like a permanent working retirement), I tucked them in the nice plastic sleeve and gave them a permanent home in the notebook in which I record the titles of all the books I've read by year.So, to conclude this review, this is a great bookmark, of high quality, with excellent value and upon which are written four bits of quite useful advice. I heartily recommend it.

I'm surprised at all of the good reviews for this bookmark, perhaps it is different than it once was. It is super-thin. Basically a thick laminated paper -- not even a very thin cardboard or stock. The little sleeve that it came in is higher quality than the bookmark! The tassel and bead are nice, though. I wouldn't have purchased this had I seen it in person and its certainly not worth more than $0.99.

This product came exactly how it looks colors and all. I like the front and back sayings and I feel inspired by its message. You can use it in a book or just carry it around when you need a reminder and a pick me up. To better oneself. I bought two of these and the price is nice. One for myself and one for a friend.

High quality, bright colors, tassel in excellent condition! I will continue to purchase these as I believe the quality is phenomenal, the price is fair, and these are items that will last that I can pass down to my granddaughter along with my book collection. Thank you so much for an amazing item!

Meg Cabot is a guaranteed good read! This book is fun and fast-paced. I love ghost stories and Ms. Cabot creates an interesting world where Suze is a "mediator" who gets ghosts to move on. To where she doesn't know, but she gets them out of the world of the living. Suze is a main character I can't wait to get back to. Thank goodness this is a series! I love the setting of Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA. Especially since Suze is from Manhattan. It's a nice fish out of water story where the outsider becomes the popular girl by being herself. All the characters are memorable from Suze's 3 stepbrother (Sleepy. Dopey, and Doc) to Jesse the ghost to Suze's friend's Adam and CeeCee. I can't wait to see what happens next!

This book was both my introduction in the Mediator series as well as my first book written by Meg Cabot. This book is what made me interested in writing as a profession.The novel opens with Suze moving to California after her mother remarries, and she suddenly has a super nice stepfather named Andy, and three stepbrothers who she nicknames Sleepy, Dopey, and Doc. But Suze isn't like normal girls, she is a mediator, she can see, speak to, and even interact physically with spirits who have not moved on.She isn't happy with this ability though, and finds that the house she moves into has a spirit of it's own, Jessie who died when the house was a boarding house over fifty years ago. Her house isn't the only place that houses spirits, the school she attends is haunted by a girl who died just recently, and she doesn't want to move on peacefully. It will take all of Suze's abilities to figure out how to get her to move on, whether she wants to or not,The writing style is easy to read and flows very well. It reads like it really is the thoughts of a teenage girl. I couldn't wait to read the rest of the series.

When I read the description of this book I was a bit wary to buy it. It is obviously marketed for middle and high school students and it is an older book series with very little reviewers. Because it is the only book I have seen on Amazon with a solid 3+ star rating from everyone (and because I devoured the Pretty Little Liars books for the same target audience) I decided to give it a shot. I was surprised at how enjoyable it was. I found it to be a sort of lighthearted combination between the Ghost Whisperer TV show and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I’m embarrassed to admit that although I am in my mid-twenties I still love watching reruns of the first couple seasons… can’t break a 16 year habit I guess). Shadowland is humorous and definitely kept me interested – I finished it in two short sessions. I only had three issues with the book that warranted a 4 star rating.I was a bit annoyed with Suze’s tendency to develop a crush on any guy that shows her the slightest bit of attention, living or dead. I know she is 16 but come on!The phrase “kick butt” was used waaaay too much. I understand it is a teen book and don’t want to advocate profanity, but I cannot take anyone who uses that phrase seriously and I thought it made her sound like a seven year old child, not the tough chick she claims to be. Considering worse words are used in overabundance, that I cannot say here because Amazon won't let me, I think the author could have matured the language a little or just found a new phrase to use. Another reviewer also mentioned her excessive use of “I mean” and wow, they were not kidding…Lastly, Suze names her new stepbrothers after 3 of the 7 dwarves and always refers to them by those names in her head. It got a bit confusing when their real names were used. She calls them the dwarf names on accident all the time and they never question it either. I just thought that was kind of weird lol I guess I’m just being nitpicky. These are just small things I thought about while reading the book, but nothing that would dissuade me from reading the book or liking it.If you’re sick of all of those overdramatic teen paranormal books and want something fun to read I suggest trying this book, if your pockets can allow it. They only take a few hours to read yet cost about $7 a pop unless you have prime or like to buy used books.

This was a fun collection of easy, basic recipes. The author throws in bits of cowboy lore here and there to "spice" things up.

I love this cookbook and the history that was written in the book this made it very interesting plus gave several really good recipes.

Just about everything sounded real good but when it comes to eating mice my stomach won't go that.

This is a great introduction to pirates! Fantastic. I bought my copy used (an old beat up library copy, but who cares) and I read it cover to cover the first hour or so I had it. I live near a river where Captain Kidd is supposed to have hung out, and have always had a fascination with pirates. While written for kids, this book provides an excellent starting source for adults as well, defining terms and illustration all sorts of things from ship parts to weapons to treasure maps. I'm working on a fictional book and needed some quick references and this book is ideal. You simply cannot beat DK for producing useful, fun and beautifully designed books. I would imagine boys would flip over this book.

I usually like Connie Mason, but this was a circle jerk. I have rarely seen so much mass stupidity in my life. Save yourselves and back away.

Excellent reference books!I love this publisher! They come up with the most interesting layouts and presentations of informational text relating to specific topics. However, as a 5th grade teacher and a mom of an advanced reader, I see kids just looking at the pictures again and again saying, "Hey! What's that?" (pointing to a photo in the beautiful book) and not reading the caption. Most of these books are dense with vocabulary (I love that) and small font on captions, which make them hard for children to actually read independently.Love DK...nice stuff

Some of the scenes were a little long winded and there was not enough back story on some of the characters.

This is one of my favorite Connie Mason books. I have read it lots of times. They were both young when Guy and Bliss fall in love. They secretly get married, but things happen and Guy thinks Bliss betrayed him. Bliss thinks Guy died in prison, where her father and another guy put him. 6 years later they meet again by accident. Guys lost his eye 6 years before. He wears an eye patch. Bliss does not recognize him as he has now turned into a man. He is bigger and harder than Bliss remember him. She thinks he is dead, so her mind does not want to admit that Hunter is Guy. He seems totally different, but there are things that remind her of Guy. Someone couldn't believe that she didn't recognize him. First this is a fictional book, and people seem to forget when they read romance, that it is not real. Second I can understand if you think the sweet guy you love is dead, and you meet a harden pirate, that reminds you of him, but does not tell you who he really is. Would you believe what your mind is trying to tell you? She basically died when he did, and told her father she would never remarry as she will only love Guy. I like how Bliss finally convinces Guy at the end he does not need to wear his eye patch around her, as he is insecure about people seeing it as it is ugly. She loves him no matter what. A good lesson for the book.When Guy sees her, he knows how he is going to get his revenge, but soon realizes he still loves her. I have no idea why one reviewer said he was stupid. He was not. He is actually very sweet at the end. I like when two people reunite and fight for each other. He is actually very sweet at the end. The villain from the beginning of course causes issues between them time and again during the book, but love conquers all.And of course I love her sex scenes. She has been one of my favorite authors since I started reading romance books in the late 70's. Hers are books I read over and over. I only do not like 1 or 2 of her books. I am sorry she does not really write anymore as she is around 84 years old now. She just wrote a series with Mia Marrow, and she has two other books with her, but I can tell most of them are more Mia then Connie and they are not as good as Connie's books. I miss not having new books from her, but it is understandable.Sex content high.

I bought this book from Amazon last year as a Christmas gift for my then almost [...] nephew, and he loved it. He and I are big Pirate fans. I even read this book myself. My nephew thought that this book was cool. It offers an in depth subject of pirates that is both interesting and informative. Learn about some famous pirates, their ships and way of life on sea as well as on land. These Eyewitness books are great. A highly recommended pirate book. AARGH.

This is one of my favorite books. It is the second book that got me into romance novels and 15 years after I read it on paperback I looked like crazy for this book for my kindle ebook edition. This love story is so sad you can't help but feel for both characters. They go through so much to finally find the happiness they were denied the first time. Loved it.

While not the greatest of pirate romances (see my Best Pirate/Privateer Romances list), it's still an entertaining story. It begins in New Orleans in 1804 where Bliss Grenville, descended from French aristocrats, falls in love with her father's stable master, Guy de Young, a young man from common roots. They marry against her father's wishes and in defiance of her father's having betrothed her to another man--Gerald Faulk, a wealthy American in the shipping business. Bliss' father and fiancé conspire to falsely imprison Guy and then send an assassin after him who, in the fight, takes Guy's right eye. Guy believes Bliss has abandoned him for Faulk and Bliss believes Guy is dead. Wounded and starved, Guy seeks refuge with the Lafitte brothers, pirates who have grown rich on stolen bounty in the Caribbean. Guy adopts a new identity as Hunter. Seven years later, now a wealthy pirate, Guy (as Hunter) discovers Bliss among their captives.If you can excuse some improbable plot developments and the heroine at times seeming rather dense (she didn't recognize her own husband just because he'd grown a bit older and lost an eye), then you will find this an entertaining pirate tale though there are certainly better ones out there.

The author worked with and lent her personal strength to the incredibly courageous women (and men) who are the vanguard of this social movement.This is the story of true courage; standing up despite torture and loss of what little amount of freedom the government allows its citizens. Truly, it is the about freeing humanity from the oppression we impose upon each other. It is about human spirit, and the hope for our evolution. But it is difficult to read of the experiences these women undergo in their fight. It also highlights how critical a free press is to a healthy society, and how the current Chinese government conducts policing its citizenry in overt action and in constant pressure to conform in every way.

Dr. Leta Hong Fincher's book gives a complete picture of the modern-day feminist movement in China, while also putting it in the context of history. It's incredible to learn how gender equality played into the Communist revolution, especially in terms of the labor force, and Dr. Hong Fincher does an expert job of explaining how it was eventually minimized in favor of patriarchal culture and also authoritarianism.Parts of this book read like a spy novel. It's astonishing and often heartbreaking to hear how feminists in China have been treated by the state: not only surveilled and intimidated, but thrown in detention and tortured. Though authoritarian regimes are on the rise, there is tremendous strength in organizing and promoting gender equality. It threatens the patriarchal systems of power, which is why China has become so adamant about stamping out the threat by any means possible, from censorship to incarceration. This book details all of those ways, as well as the brilliant tactics the movement has used to fight back.Nevertheless, the feminists in China persist, as should the rest of us. Dr. Hong Fincher's book makes a great case for global feminism's potential for lasting change, and I am grateful to have read this work.

Powerful, needed, compelling. Picked this up at a really busy time, yet cannot stop reading it! Very well written.

Have to say, Leta Hong Fincher's Betraying Big Brother was a powerful, emotionally taxing, and awe-inspiring book to read. I'm enthralled with the Feminist Five, think Li Maizi is truly badass, and was heartbroken to read about her own experiences with sexual assault in the context of the repression Chinese feminist activists have faced over the years. That Hong Fincher could put together this book, do her interviews, and excoriate the People's Republic of China and Pooh Bear Xi in such an unflinching way. Just, wow!Just a couple of poignant quotes from Betraying Big Brother (not to give too much away). One quote I know to be true in social justice movements in general: "Misogyny has no political boundaries; supposedly progressive, male activists have throughout history revealed deep-rooted sexism by silencing, belittling, and even abusing the women within their own civil rights movements." Most definitely!I didn't know this, though. The "growing number of Chinese women resisting marriage and childbearing pose a challenge to...the Party's security apparatus(')" key method for keeping trouble-makers in line, "threatening [their] spouses, parents and children..." Connecting population policies to the political repression of Chinese feminism and feminists. Big Brother, indeed!These accounts from activists are incredibly well written, but also gut-wrenching. But with the judicious arc of the universe, the demographic changes are on the side of young, educated Chinese women. "The more women are...independent and beholden to no one, the more they can resist and disrupt the patriarchal authoritarian order."So, many, many thanks to Leta Hong Fincher for this book! It has given me a deeper glimpse into a world I would otherwise only know bits and piece of from a few friends and from the BBC. I think we all need to be Betraying Big Brother, whenever and however we can.

This latest (2016) DK Eyewitness Travel Guide to Canada is a superb resource for planning and enjoying a trip to the U.S.'s neighbor north of the border. The guide combines an appealing mix of narrative, maps, photos, and diagrams to capture the highlights in each region of Canada, including the major cities of Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Ottawa, and Vancouver. Each section notes historical sites, city zoos, beautiful natural scenary, uniquely Canadian institutions such as the Citadel at Quebec, towering over the St. Lawrence River, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Academy and Museum, and Canada's astonishingly good provincial museum system, with outstanding examples in Calgary and Winnipeg, for example.With the help of some local maps, this guide allows visitors to find and enjoy their choice of a variety of attractions. The guide includes tips on navigating Canadian customs, airports, dining, accomodations, and money. This reviewer utilized the guide for a multi-day trip on the Trans-Canadian Highway, picking out interesting sites to visit during each day's travel. Highly recommended as an excellent planning and touristing resource to Canada.

This book is an excellent choice if you want to get an overview of what’s to see in Canada and where the different sites are located. The book’s innumerable photographs are very pretty, but to my mind, its standout feature is its many maps, which give an excellent idea of the layout of cities and areas and where the sites of interest are in relation to each other. There don’t seem to be many tourist guidebooks that cover all of Canada, and this is probably the best of them; it’s certainly infinitely superior to the Worldwide Travelers one, which tells you almost nothing.“Introduction” is the operative word, however: to plan a trip to Canada in any detail, you will also need to buy region-specific guides such as the Fodor ones or do further research online, because the DK book provides no information on such things as hotels. This is not surprising, given the huge area the book covers, but I could wish for somewhat fewer photographs (though I realize that those are one of the specialties of this series) and more information.

Just went on a 2-leg Canada trip - first visit. This guide (as all DK do) delivers an excellent background and wonderful overview of this beautiful country. Highly recommended.

If you are travelling to Canada, then this is the guide you need. It starts with an overview and then covers each province and city along with their attractions, places to stay, eat and a whole lot of other useful details. The paper is glossy and thick. Its weight (almost 400gm) may be an issue. I would have preferred a lighter guide to carry along. I guess it will take the rigours of my backpack better. Looking forward to a month of backpacking in Canada with this book as a guide.

Bought this as a gift for someone that is RV'ing across Canada. He loves the book and said it was just perfect and will be well used.

This small book surprisingly contains very specific information about so many things a person needs to know when planning a vacation. Lots of very nice photographs and detailed city center sightseeing maps.

DK is the perfect travel guide, don't travel anywhere without it.
