If you are a fan of the CIA/anti-terrorism/assassin type thrillers, then you will love the books written by Bradley Wright. After being an avid fan of Vince Flynn (Mitch Rap), Brad Thor (Scot Harvath), Ben Goes (Dewey Andreas), David Baldacci (Will Robies), I was looking for a new author in this genre and found a great one in Bradley Wright. After reading the first 3 books in the Xander King series (and following Bradley Wright on Facebook :)), I was fortunate enough to get an advance copy of the 4th book - King's Reign" from the author. The first 3 books are excellent reads. I would actually recommend to read them in order. They are books that all stand on their own merit, but the development of the individual characters, and what they go through to ultimately lead to "King's Reign" is such a great story in its own. Whereas there is definitely the element of evil terrorist vs. the good guy in the first 3 books, the 4th installment takes Xander King and his team on a different path, but equally as thrilling - to the very relevant issue of human trafficking. To say this book is a page turner is an understatement. I'm one who usually reads in bed, reading a 2-4 pages, then the next night needing to go back a page to pick it up where I left off. I read this book in less than a week. The pace is fast, exciting and pure satisfaction. I'm not one who likes to read about things that don't mean a lot. For example, if you read Tom Clancy's book "The Sum of All Fears", he explains in excruciating detail how to build a bomb - and a nuclear bomb at that. It did not keep my interest going. One thing I like about the Bradley Wright's writing style is that almost the entire book is action oriented and relevant to the storyline and characters. It kept me captivated to want to read more...and then more. Another thing that is great about an author trying to make a name in this tough book world - the price of his books are a bargain! Give Xander King a try - start with "Whiskey & Roses" and ultimately "King's Reign" - you won't regret it.
What a ride! Xander is up to his old antics again. I knew he couldn’t stay away from the lifestyle of chasing bad guys and making people pay for their sins.This story grips you from the outset. While on vacation in Mexico, Xander is caught ogling a woman, a woman that ‘belongs’ to a small man with a jealous streak who wishes to pick a fight with someone who is up to the challenge. And I think we all know what happens next.But from there, the story takes an unexpected turn. Wrought with explosions, betrayal, deceit, guns and enough twists and turns that would make an Indy car race jealous, this is my favorite Xander to date.Bravo, Mr. Wright. You keep writing them and I’ll keep reading them. King’s Reign is an adventure not to be missed.
Uniqueness in the variety of the characters is the compelling draw to this series. I have read all four books in sequence, and it was fun. The story could use more depth, the ever returning character nuances and rooms day scenario could lessen. Okay he's a super hero with a few human traits, I get it. More tactics, ruthlessness, team use of good tech, maybe an actual time they don't run out of ammo because they actually came prepared as the professionals they are supposed to be...just seems as though a thousand books all have the same recurring theme
Action thriller by the seat of your pants and it's a subject close to my heart. Sex trafficking. Xander and his team going after the scum of the scum of the universe. In my opinion there is no one lower than human sex traffickers. The author could've chosen this new CIA team to go after terrorists, drug dealers or any other number of criminals. This something I haven't seen touched on in fiction. And of course it helps that Xander and team are dropping bodies. I just wish Kyle still wasn't such an idiot and why he's even on the team when he can't even navigate without help. He's more of a liability than a teammate. That's my only complaint. Kyle needs to needs to get training or get off an elite CIA team.
Fantastic read!! Hooked from the first few pages and couldn’t put it down until I was done. Fast paced, exciting and can’t wait for the next one. Bradley Wright is an amazing storyteller and really allows the reader to be immersed in the story. I feel as though I was part of the action and enjoyed every second. Finishing the book was both exhilarating and bittersweet. Bittersweet because I have to wait for the next installment. 100% a MUST READ if you like fast paced action and adventure...if not, I’m sure you could always watch cat videos. So, grab the book, a slice of your favorite pizza, two fingers of your favorite whiskey, and strap in for a great ride!
Well, I did it again: read the new Bradley Wright book, cover to cover, the day I received it. It’s just THAT good!After a period of soul-searching, Xander is back with a vengeance. This time he’s in search of an American girl abducted from the streets of Mexico, which is a different kind of criminal than Xander has chased down before. I love the new plot and character development in King’s Reign. Each book in the series opens a new window on his life and those around him. It’s never stale. Oh, and if you’ve ever been to the Santa Monica Pier, you will enjoy the pivotal role played by several iconic structures on the pier. You will probably cringe too, like I did, but Wright does an amazing job of putting you right on the pier with the main characters.Someday I hope to see Xander, Sam, and the rest of the crew in the movie theater. If you’re an action movie fan, you will love King’s Reign!
Bradley has out done himself with the fourth installment of Xander King. I received a copy from the author to read early and to be honest I couldn’t put this one down. He really let us into the human side of Xander and how even though a warrior, he is still very much a human that has all the same feelings as we do. The action starts fast and continues on through this book and like all the books in the series you will not be let down at all. Please do yourself a huge favor and block off a day and read it all in one sitting. Yes it’s that good. What a pleasure to read!!!!!
