Thank you so much for this beautiful prepared book that help me to become better acquainted with El Salvador. I love the book and the country. I shall share this with my students and friends. We have a precious El Salvadorean pastor at our church who conducts services in Spanish in the late afternoon on Sundays.

I'm usually quite careful about the money I spend and all that. But somehow it escaped me that this is a children's book. I thought it was close to a tourguide (and there seem to be no tourguides specializing in El Salvador).Now I'm not going to be an @$$ and give it a bad review because I made a mistake. This is a simply written, glossy photo-full book with lots of facts. It reminds me a lot of an atlas meant for children, but concentrated on El Salvador. Not bad. And I don't hate myself for buying it, given my fascination with the world.If I had a child, I'd certainly pass it along to them to ignite their imagination about other places and also help them understand that their standard of living as an American (born into any economic bracket) should not be taken for granted.

Maybe someday I will go, but because of this book, I held off.

It's hard to find good books on El Salvador that aren't about the war, and believe me, I've looked! My husband is Salvadoran and I'm a Spanish teacher trying to show there's more to Central America than just Costa Rica. The two good children's books our library carries were written back when the war was still going on, and I've been looking for a newer book to recommend as a library acquisition. Now I have at least one entry for my list, and the paperback version is a bargain for any home library as well.The book has only 32 pages, so while it touches on many subjects, each only gets a two-page spread. Within these limitations, though, the book presents useful information in a narrative form and with minimal bias. The "struggle and civil war" section does a remarkably good job of giving background behind conflicts such as La Guerra de Fútbol ("the Soccer War"). The section on "Native Peoples" gives a good treatment of the assimilation of these groups, with a look at the Pipíl and Lenca peoples in the present day. The book's discussion of the post-peace agreement period is very general, and despite the 2002 copyright, no mention is made of the devastating earthquakes of January and February, 2001; I can only assume the book had already gone to press.Halfway through the book, the book changes from a general overview into a more vignette-style presentation of selected topics under the usual headings ("Music and Dance," etc.). The section on family traditions, for example, gives one or two paragraphs each to baptisms, birthdays, quinceañeras, folk beliefs and "curanderas" (folk healers). In these sections, the presentation is a bit haphazard, but still provides worthwhile material. The arts and crafts section includes the role of cooperatives and political art; another topic, "The Flavors of El Salvador," brings food into a detailed and interesting depiction of daily life. The only part of the book I didn't care for is the ending, a fictional episode of a family visit; it tries a little too hard to tie in every kind of cultural topics via stilted and unnatural dialogue. The youngest readers probably won't mind, but upper elementary and middle schoolers would roll their eyes.The "Life in the Countryside" section is a treasure. The pictures show everyday life much as I saw it when I went to visit my in-laws in early 2002. Nearly every sentence has some detail that made me shout with recognition, such as the mention of using car batteries to power TVs and radios. Oddly, the book doesn't mention the solar collectors powering the batteries, an interesting topic for kids. Also, the book mentioned the scarcity of vehicles, indoor plumbing, and electricity, yet said nothing about phones. A country with so many expatriates is a country that cares a LOT about phones, and life has been profoundly affected by a boom in cell-phones in "el campo," where a phone call used to require an hourlong walk to town.While this series only covers 22 countries so far, the publishers have wisely avoided the tactic of presenting all the "usual suspects" before getting to the lesser known countries. It's refreshing to see countries like Nigeria and the Philippines among these titles -- you expect that with long-running series that cover every single country, but for a series that only covers a fraction of the world's peoples, it's nice to see someone went beyond the obvious.

I am an avid Lisa fan, and own 99% of all her published work. This novel doesn’t disappoint. I was swept away to another land, and learned about the heartbreaking events from back to back wars, and the awe inspiring actions of the haenyeo at a little place called Jeju.Lisa’s books often cover a range of time periods in China, so this was a refreshing change that sweeps you away to Korea. I was involved with my characters, crying when they cried and laughing when they laughed.Ms. See has once again managed to entwine an amazing tale of womanhood, survival, and courage into the historical wonders and atrocities that happened in a land and time far away. I regretted finishing the book, and at the same time, I am already planning to read it a second time very soon. Like all of Lisa’s books, this book is something you will want to add to your collection, so you can revisit the characters again and again.

It's amazing the power of a book can have on a life and I am not talking about this one. Somewhere some nameless bureaucrat decided that the citizens of a Korean island, Jeju, needed copies of the book, Heidi, set in the Swiss Alps. Copies were distributed and for some reason the citizens fell in love with it. They sat around and read it as families and discussed it at work. It made a difference in people's lives. I just loved that story.I have always admired Lisa See's books but I struggled with this one on several different levels. Yes, It was interesting story and I learned quite a bit but the violence in it was a real problem for me. At about 60% through I almost set it aside as it was so graphic. Yet I kept on and, in the end, I am glad I did.It is the story of a matriarchal society where the women work as haenyeo divers. They dive in the ocean and harvest the sea's treasures including abalone and octopus. They have amazing body chemistry to withstand the cold and the hardship. The men stay home and tend the children and make light meals. Of course, it is not as good as it seems. Property is still in the man's name. They often take the women's wages and gamble and drink it away. As their daughters grow up they take over the child raising and food preparation and the men are left with nothing to do. As the women trudge home from a long day of sea harvesting, they come home and clean and cook and mind children. It's not as idyllic as it seems.Because of Jeju's location, it has a long history of occupation first by the Japanese then the Americans. Both are cruel and there is massacre after massacre. Villages are burned and large burial grounds appear. Life is a constant struggle and they soon learn not to say anything because of all the informants to all the different competing military factions.The story is told around two best friends's lives, Mi-ja and Young-sook. They grew up together and became divers and then their paths diverged after marriage and their struggles will break your heart. While I suspect most will be moved Young-sook, it is Mi-ja's story that grabbed my heart.An interesting book that gave a glimpse into another way of life that I had no idea about before reading it.

Two friends spend their lives loving and hating each other, being haunted by the mistakes affecting them and their haenyeo community. They are women divers who have learned to dive without the use of diving masks, oxygen or any other supportive equipment. They rely on learning to breathe in vital air and breathe out the song of sumbisori, air let out with a unique sound for each woman.They live on Jeju Island off the southern coast of Korea, a land they believe was created by the Shaman Goddesses, creating a land of lava rocks, cones and walls. The residents have created a matriarchal society loved by each resident. Their story is a celebration of life!Young-Sook has tremendous respect for her mother who is Chief of the haenyeo in one of the local communities until she dies in an accident while diving. Another young woman has another accident that changes her life forever. Their work guarantees survival, especially in the troublesome times that soon follow. Jeju Island residents are the subjects of the Japanese Army who have invaded the country and mandated laws of behavior, inflicting death on many for the slightest infraction of rules.Mi-ja is the daughter of a Japanese collaborator. This reputation haunts her for her entire life. Even though Young-Sook’s mother takes her in with kindness and teachers her to be a haenyeo, Young Sook’s grandmother despises her and will never trust her, a belief that will literally become part of Mi-ja’s choices during one of the most tragic, devastating moments of the story. Young Sook marries the love of her life but Mi-ja marries a man who is evil personified, an act none will understand until it is too late and after too much betrayal and damage. An uprising called the 4.3 incident instigates the death of thousands. The deaths to three members of Young-Sook’s family are tragically depicted, all because of Mi-ja’s response to a request begged by her best friend.The love between these two women will stay strong, although readers will for a time doubt the primitive and passionate aspects of that love. Scientists and sociologists will make this community a subject of lengthy study and amazed respect! It is the children of these women who will clarify truth for them and the readers. I enjoy Lisa See’s storytelling and her characters. This is a very sad and at times brutal tale of what happened in Korea in the 1940s. I never heard of these specific events but now I am curious to learn more about this unique group of women divers

A nice group of short books.... attractive set........but personally, .not my favorite books by Wanda.I do enjoy her writing style, and they definitely kept me reading!I took this set along to read while on a short vacation, and wished that I had just brought one (longer) book instead, as it was too hard to keep track of a set of books, while traveling!I do not wish to discount the story line, or the content of the books, as Wanda is a gifted writer and NEVER disappoints me with her writings!If you are looking for a short read, this set will not disappoint!

I was disappointed in the size of these books. They are only about a half inch in size and can be read in about 1 to 2 hours at the most. I was really disappointed with the size.

All of her books are very good but I thought these would big bigger books. As it is, there are six very small books in this series.

The complete set at a great price! The box was damaged holding the books. My granddaughter is looking forward to reading this set...I'm just now finishing them~really enjoy the clean, moral subject matter. Something we definitely need in this day and age!

Very pleasant read. Interesting plot with a few twists here and there. Interesting look into the everyday life of the Amish people and how they cope with life and the problems that come their way. The books are pretty short so it does not take very long to read the whole series.

After I finished reading these books, I started on book one again. Great story, well written.

Enjoyed this 6 pack. The story was captivating.

This is a must have for anyone who’s a fan of Led Zeppelin. Mike Tremaglio and Dave Lewis have done exhaustive research into each show the band played. The book is chock full of images that bring each gig to life, and it includes a wealth of insight into every performance. Although I believe the best thing about the book is the way it brings together so much information into one place, there are three parts of it that stand out for me:1 - For almost every concert, there’s a picture of the venue in which the show took place. These images are my favorite part of the book. They make it easy to imagine what it would have been like being there that night, waiting in the queue for the doors to open, the anticipation building to a frenzy until Led Zeppelin came on, and then the hours of musical magic. So many of these houses of the holy have been torn down or converted to other uses that it’s great to be able to see all of them all in one place so they’re not forgotten.2 - There are reviews for most of the shows, not just from well known national publications, but also from local papers. Some of these reviews are exasperating to read, as it’s obvious the reviewer didn’t like the band and was going to give them a bad review regardless of how well they played, but there are a lot of them that got what the band was trying to do. The best of these, especially the ones from the early days, really give a feel for how special the band was and why they were embraced so quickly by their fans.3 - The book provides extensive information about the 86 shows that were cancelled. I knew about a few of them, but this is the first time for most of them that I got the backstory about why they were called off. This level of detail is one of the things that makes this book standout from other books that have covered the band’s live performances.Although I’ve highlighted a few of the things that I believe make this book special, it’s really the way all of the information is pulled together that makes it a must have. Before I got the book, I figured I’d only look at it when I was listening to a particular show. However, I’ve found myself spending hours perusing it, following things like the ’69 festival shows or the ’71 Japan tour. This book is an amazing accomplishment and belongs on the bookshelf of everyone who's a fan of Led Zeppelin.

Good job as an update to the author's previous "Celebration" book of more than a few years back. Technically ,the book is about perfect. Interesting to me is how my own perspective on reading the press reviews has changed over the past 48 years of being a Zep fan and avid collector of boot shows over the years. Twenty years ago, I would be miffed at the many negative concert reviews of zep gigs over the years...now with hindsight I would agree that a lot of the "panned" reviews were spot on, especially about the universal complaints of "near pain-level" concert volume; and subjecting audiences to 30 minute drum solos. Yeah, Page and Co could be great live; but also terrible. Sorry, but the famous JPJ quote that they still mopped the floor compared with other bands (even on a bad night) does not hold up under scrutiny. Noise solos, anyone? The author has done more to perpetrate the myth that Zep never played a bad gig than anyone. Tight but Loose indeed.

This really is a magnificent book to have if you enjoy the music of live Led Zeppelin. So much time and effort and energy has been put into this project with love, passion and enthusiasm. There are many different photos of tickets stubs and memorabilia and concert photos all presented chronologically of the over 500 concerts given between 1968 in 1980. If you are a true fan of live Led then it is your duty to get this book. Eye Thank Ewe goes out to Dave and Mike for this amazing project!

Unbelievable,cleared up a lot of shows that were questionable,the bootleg sources and times are really helpful, also some rare pictures of the band I have never seen. The concert reviews are mostly all wrong, journalists just don't get the band, some of their best shows ever, they get a negative review, every now and then someone really gets what's going on.As many Zep concert books I have and for the last 35 year's reading them this one tops them all, new and refreshing.

I can't imagine the amount of research that was involved in putting this book together. This is an an amazing compilation from Mike Tremaglio and Dave Lewis. The info given and the included photographs elevate this book from a simple reference book to one you can actually read and use as a reference when needed. Fantastic book.

If you like Led Zeppelin you'll like this book, if you love Led Zeppelin, you'll love this book. Really informative, I received this book several weeks ago and I'm barely at January 1970. I suggest reading this while listening to the live recordings.

As a hidden role/deduction board-gamer enthusiast, this is a great game. Here are my thoughts:* THEME: Excellent. You really feel as though you are in a zone on a spaceship trying to either escape from aliens or that you are a flesh-eating alien hunting your human prey...all in the dark. Makes for very intense gaming, keeping you on the edge of your seat like a horror movie...just awesome.* BALANCE: Sometimes in two-sided games the sides are not balanced. Not so here. I feel there is a great balance between the aliens and the humans. The card selection sometimes favors the humans, sometimes not, sometimes the aliens, sometimes not. Additionally, in even-numbered games, there is an equal amount of aliens and humans (3 to 8 players). If there is an odd number, you have one more alien than humans. This makes for an even-tensioned game throughout.* REPLAYABILITY: Excellent. There are 8 "zones" that you can play in on the spaceship, which is chosen by the group before play begins. Some of the zones have an open floor plan, some are more linear, some are bigger, some are smaller, etc. The instruction manual includes a description of each zone and a suggested amount of players for each zone. NOTE: The instruction MANUAL incorrectly matched a couple of the zone names with the wrong picture of the zone (specifically, I'm guessing that the pictures for the Fermi and Galvani zones in the instructional booklet should be reversed). It appears that the dry-erase BOOKLET has the CORRECT name and picture combination. Also, my copy came with only 7 books (there should be 8)...so check to see that you received all 8 books. I contacted Osprey and they are sending me the additional book...very good and quick customer service from England.Another bit to add here: You can play a "basic" game or an "advanced" game. The basic game disregards (i) items that are found on the spaceship and (ii) disregards character abilities for both humans and aliens. Of course, you can "house rule" this game and play with items, but not character abilities, or character abilities and not items, for an "intermediate" game. This adds another whole couple of layers of re-playabiltiy. Since there are more characters than players, and since character roles are drawn randomly, this also adds more excitement to each game.* COMPONENT QUALITY: In this "ultimate" edition, you have a book that works with dry-erase markers...much better then the prior version that included paper versions of the zones. The cards are just "ok." This is the one item where I feel there should be better quality. I sleeved my cards with the GREEN Fantasy Flight card sleeves for additional protection. After doing so, all fits in the box still, but snugly. After I receive my 8th dry-erase booklet (see above), I may need more room to fit my sleeved cards, at which point I'll tear down the cardboard compartments. I suppose this could be another small gripe (for all board game publishers)...please make your game boxes/containers large enough to accommodate sleeved cards. I'd rather not tear out the box's innards, but I'll do it to fit my sleeved cards.* FUN FACTOR: Very high. In the beginning, no one knows who is who. For those of you that get jazzed about hidden roles, this creates so much fun and laughter...trying to guess who is who.While I would describe this game as "2-sided," it is not necessarily "2-teamed," particularly for the humans. Here is why: There are 4 escape pods in the zone you are playing. There are 5 "escape pod cards" that are shuffled and placed face down on the table. When a human lands on an escape pod, which are numbered 1-4, that human announces that he has landed on "pod #___," then he draws an escape pod card. Four of these cards are green (you escape in that pod)...one is red (the pod malfunctioned). If a pod is used, now the other remaining humans have one less pod to use to escape (tons of fun, particularly when you escape as the first human and then other humans are like "Dang, only 3 pods left where 1 could be damaged.") All of the humans don't need to escape for the other escaped humans to win.Escape pods are unusable when (i) a human uses one to escape or (ii) a human draws the one red escape pod card. As a human, you already feel a huge amount of tension as you try to escape the zone in the dark. However, this tension increases as escape pods become unusable. If you play with 2 or 3 people (this game plays 2 to 8), there is only one human. Therefore, once you escape as a human, it's game over. While this is still a huge amount of fun, I really like the "extra" tension that humans feel when there are 2 or more humans (need 4 to 8 players) and another human successfully escapes the zone, leaving less pods available. Tons of fun.Additionally, aliens can kill each other (usually by accident). Therefore, humans and aliens are "kind of" on the same team, but "kind of not." This is a very interesting dynamic.* CONS: I already alluded to them above, but here they are at quick glance: Would have liked better card quality and a larger box to more comfortably fit sleeved cards.This game is full of tension, full of fun, and full of laughs.All in all, this is great game of hidden deduction and role-playing with strong edge-of-your-seat tension throughout. I recommend for family and game groups, particularly if you like hidden role/deduction games.PS: As of this review, there is one 3-star review for a "dirty" instructional book and a scuffed box. I would not let this review dissuade you from buying this game. First, the scuffed up box sounds like a shipping problem, which would not relate to the publisher of the game if not purchased through Osprey, and even if it was, a scuffed up box should not be, in my opinion, related to the game itself. At least rate the game on Amazon with the "stars" and have a separate star rating in the body of the review if the shipping negatively impacts you. Second, I saw that Joseph from Osprey responded to this reviewer and said he would gladly ship out a new instructional booklet. I happened to notice that this is the same fellow that helped me and he did so within 12 hours of being emailed. I also don't feel that dirty instructions should be combined in the rating that includes a rating on the actual gameplay.P.S.S. Since I'm seeing an explosion of reviews wrought with a conflict of interest and bias: I paid full price for this product. This is a REAL review, not a "Vine" review and I was NOT given this product at a discount "in exchange for an honest review" (really wish Amazon would prohibit such reviews).

This is great hidden Movement game!Having played several other hidden movement games (specter Ops, Fury of Drac, Scotland Yard) this game solves the biggest problem all those had, who gets to be the hidden person, because everyone is moving in secret! The game play is very simple so even our lighter gamers picked it up quickly and enjoyed it but there is still a lot of challenge and strategy in what you do so the “hardcore” players enjoy it. They have added several good mechanics in the job classes for each race and the random noise cards/Items that give the game some extra fun. The other big bonus of this game is that it plays up to 8 people. I can say that it scales very well between 5 or 8 people.The quality of the materials is also great, the dry erase maps clean off well and the pens still work after a dozen plays. The card stock is typical of games nowadays so if you know you are going to play a lot it would not hurt to get some card sleeves.They offer several Maps to play and some can be a lot more challenging but gives good variety for tons of repeat plays. The game time can vary based on play style and number of players but so far we have not had a game last an hour.Overall a great great game! Works for a large range of players, easy to pick up, and fun to play. This game is a go to pick on game nights for us now.If I had to put one thing negative on here it would be that it is a coop game so it is a shared victory most the time, but we house rule in the alien with the most kills wins and a tie is broken by a death match between the aliens.

LOVE THIS. My copy was perfectly clean when it arrived, unlike the other reviewer's copy. I took it straight to a game night where I taught seven others and we all had a fantastic time. I really like the little dry erase notebooks, the tense giggles around the table, and how easy it was for everyone to pick it up since they have all played Battleship before. I am incredibly happy that I purchased this.

How do I explain all of the ways that I love this game? First off, the quality is wonderful. Not the dry erasers but those never are. The cards however are phenomenal. They’re thick and soft and I want to hold them forever.The gameplay itself can be truly kick ass. It’s like Battleship if it were a group game. And mostly silent... but that’s not my point! My point is that the gameplay is wonderful. As long as you’re playing with the right people. This is a cat and mouse game. If you’re playing with someone that can’t bluff or just isn’t intuitive/strategic it doesn’t go over super well. Admittedly, I’m not the best at strategy games but I quickly figured my way past that. And if I can, so can you. So please, buy this amazing game! You will not regret it. Ever.

I played this game years ago before the Italian company that produced it stopped. Since they are now making the deluxe edition, I decided to pick it up. It has a few additions to the rules and the dry erase boards are nice, although the marker quality leaves a lot to be desired. All in all a pretty good game. It does suffer from some AP and if an alien gets killed early in the game they might as well go make food for everyone else because they could be stuck not playing for an hour.

Love this! Loved it so much that I bought it for my sister too! There are very few games that can be played in a chair after a nursing baby falls asleep on you, but this has been so nice! I missed playing games with my husband. This was so fun just the two of us and we look forward to playing with our babies and other family in the future! Great game!

I found this great book on the 'new book's shelf at our public library. After reading though it, I have downloaded it to my Kindle library. I'm 76 , have crocheted since childhood and taught knit and crochet classes at a community college for years; This is the best crochet book I've seen. Thanks to the authors and to Lark books for this excellent comprehensive reference. The descriptions and the photography are superb. Well done guys.

I preordered and received my book today. I have not put it down since. It is perfect for me - clear instructions, great photography, logical sequencing that builds on each topic. The projects are items I would wear and cannot wait to make. Very pleased. I have taken several of the Craftsy courses and this is the perfect addition.

This is it, I finally found a comprehensive, exhaustive and very, very clear guide that will give me a wide knowledge on Crochet, thus opening me the way to a lot of patterns I was longing to make but haven’t dared doing so far.I found in the books stitches I never saw (I’m and intermediate crocheter) and wonderful, effective and useful techniques.Everything is explained very clearly and to a very satisfying depth, with clear photos.This book will give you very solid bases and techniques on every aspects of crochet.I first bought the hardcover and when I saw it I immediately bought the kindle version, to have it always with me on the phone when I need some help and I’m away from home.As to the patterns, they are modern and beautiful, no old bo-ho designs here!There are other excellent books on crochet (and I bought a lot), but when it comes to “general” books not specialized in a particular technique, I think that this is THE ONE for me.I absolutely recommend ot to both beginners and intermediate crocheters, though I think that also advanced ones might be interested.

This must be the best crochet course book ever written. I have a few, including the one from Rowan, which goes directly into the stitching almost immediately. This book, however, gives you the why of doing something a certain way. It tells you how to choose the right yarn for the right project, It gives you so much up-front information, that all your questions are answered before you ever pick up the hook and lay it to yarn. In fact, you don't do that until page 72 when you make your first swatch. It is written with humor and compassion and will hold your interest. Everything they teach you is taught in a specific order to help you actually learn the craft. Projects were developed that use the skills taught up to that point. Also, the projects are things anyone would enjoy not only making, but wearing or giving as gifts. You won't find things like granny sqare handbags, belts or doggy coats. What you will find are beautiful garments and an afghan in which you must change yarn colors in the middle of a row. The pictures are gorgeous and very explanatory in themselves even without the accompanying text.There are close to 200 stitches that they teach you and have you make the swatches for so that you will be prepared and accomplished enough to make the accompanying project. Each swatch and or project builds your skills so that you will be able to make the next project and the next.Also, at the end of the book, diagrams for every stitch imaginable is included. I don't know what else they could have included in this book to bring one from a beginner to an accomplished crocheter. Thanks, guys..Great job!

These guys have ALL the insider tips/tricks on crochet, finishing, the whole works! I love to take their courses at knitting conventions, and now they've condensed all (well, not ALL, but most!) of their considerable knowledge into one book. I have been crocheting for more years than I care to remember, but after skimming through the book I've already picked up some tips & tricks that I never heard of before that will make my finished projects so much more attractive!! This book is a must have in your crochet library. I have been crocheting for a decade and make mostly cardigans. The section on decreasing stitches is a life changer .These guys have found better looking techniques that are just as easy .The stitch patterns are all well done and include diagrams. I would love to take a class with the Shibaguyz !

Wow! What an awesome book. For someone trying to teach themselves crochet, this book is a must. Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know. This book is crammed with information. But more importantly, the book is very thoughtfully designed in a comprehensive progressive style that builds on your previously learned skill as you work your way thru it. I really like that each stitch, motif, cable, or pattern stitch includes tutorials, the text (as it would appear in a pattern instruction for a project you might do) and the diagram. So you learn to read a pattern, as you learn to do the stitch. I can watch you tube tutorial on how to crochet a new stitch (very helpful). But if you can’t read a pattern, you can’t make all the beautiful designer projects out there. This book is a wonderful teaching guide, reference guide and tool in my journey to become a better crocheter. Thank you Shannon and Jason for helping me get to the next level.1

A well written crochet course by two dynamic Master Crafters. I have crocheted for years and still learned a lot going through the exercises in this book. An excellent reference and tutorial. I highly recommend mend this book to all serious and casual crocheted. I think knitters would find it interesting also.

In the fourth volume of this series, Satou and company continue their leisurely exploration of other lands. All they want is to enjoy themselves, and not be in any hectic situations. Satou and the others are not heroes, and they are content with their fun efforts to see the world, try out new things, and be a rather large pseudo-family. But circumstances are, obviously, not going to allow things to be so certain.In order to avoid a massively longer route, Satou decides to go through the Muno Barony. Those who have paid attention previously know that this is not the safest place in the world to be. The government has, for many years, been unable to control the land, and corrupt officials, bandits, and other problems, plague the countryside there. This isn't the fault of the current management, but due to a curse and later the machinations of some of the bad guys. In the parlance of the real world, it would be referred to as a "failed state". Though there are folks in the government there who are heroically doing their best to change this, they are up against quite a challenge.Satou decides to go through this land to, as I said, save time, and this does make sense. Given how ridiculously powerful he is, as well as how powerful his companions are (who are much weaker than him, but as a unit stronger than most folks), it's not a huge worry for him.Anyways, Satou and company are getting more and more involved due to the abject poverty they see in the outlying towns and villages. It's kinda hard for those with the means these folks have, as well as the kind hearts they have, to see such suffering and *not* get involved. All of this comes to a head when Satou notices a girl on his map whose status indicates that she is first weakening, and then that she has gone unconscious. She turns out to be the daughter of the current Baron, and she is seeking help to defeat the demons plotting to finish conquering the already cursed land.You can probably guess where this is going, right? Yup. Satou and company get involved. Much to his chagrin. This isn't just my own conjecture, this reticence of Satou's that I've outlined. The text itself makes this clear, as does the author's Afterword. Satou just wants to be leisurely. He can do a lot, but he doesn't want to be a hero or some such. However, he can't just ignore incredible suffering that he and his group can stop. This makes him a fun twist on a hero, which I like. He's not unique, as other heroes in books have been like this, but he does go against the grain for such over-powered protagonists, which makes him more interesting, in a way.Speaking of over-powered, yes, that describes Satou to a "T". But at the same time, he actually is shown to be *unable* to do everything himself. The girls he travels with show the ability to help out at crucial times, and he also gets help from a source outside his group twice. The second time his family of traveling companions would have been in possibly fatal danger if not for this other help. In other words, despite being so incredibly OP, Satou still can't do everything. Instead of him handling stuff on his own while everyone else cheers, he does a lot, but others help as well. Despite his power, he still needs them.Both of the above add something to the mix of the story that make it stronger. As does the introduction of the Baron's daughter, Karina. She is a nice mix of cute, clumsy, beautiful, inept, yet badass. She just is an adorable yet awesome and brave character. Though she spends much of the narrative being inferior to Satou's group and thus having to be taught to fight, she still is a fun character. And when she does find a way to contribute, she kicks ass.The other girls have an impact as well, as I said earlier. Liza, Pochi, Tama, and Nana at need, are great front-line fighters. Meanwhile, Arisa, Mia, and Nana are great rearguard fighters. Particularly Arisa keeps the bad guys off-balance with her Psychic Magic. Lulu might seem - and indeed feels this way in-universe - less valuable, but she has an important role to play as well in less flashy, but still important non-combat related roles. And she is learning some combat, anyways.I can't think of much to criticize here other than that if you don't like the whole "puzzle boss" aspect of book one, you won't like this books final fight between Satou and the arc's Big Bad. That's up to the taste of the reader, really. Between the aspect I've described, and some cool characters we also meet, this is an engaging read.Rating: 5/5 Stars.

Hello again and I hope that you enjoy this volume as much as I have. Again, I am a fan and follower of the original web novel on which this story is based and I am pleased yet again that there is tons of new material in here to sink my teeth into. The thing that I found interesting about this book is that a lot of it went into the character development process which I really loved since in the web novel that aspect was a little bit on the dry side. So, since the other characters in the story other than the main character got their story time bumped up dramatically it really made for a fun read yet again. I also liked how the author rearranged some of the sequence of events that happed in the web novel to the light novel. It definitely gave the story a better feel and much better flow. Couple that with the new material that tied everything together and you have yet another fine work that took me two days to read. I would have had it all done in one but work got in my way. But if you are a fan of the web novel and are thinking about picking this up go for it! You will not be disappointed. If you are a first-time reader then strap in because this is really going to be a fun chapter. Even though I am extremely familiar with the web novel of this story, each new volume so far has me reading it like it’s for the first time which just makes me want the next volume that much sooner.

This time around Satou found himself mixed in a large conspiracy in a new territory! While exposition is present, not to the same degree as the previous novel. This one has much more action and adventure with a hint of foreshadowing at the end.Characters, as always, feel great in the story and are a pleasure to read about. Definitely, worth the pick-up if you are into these sorts of novels.

Great story that is immersive and fun to watch unfold. Would have given it a better rating, but they need to pay better attention to detail like at location 1029: "Incidentally, the pairs on each horse were Nana and Pochi, Liza and Arisa, Mia and Lulu, and Pochi and me." The last part should read Tama and me because obviously Pochi can't be in 2 places at once. Also near the end of the book the story lacks a lot of detail and seems to jump around and doesn't have clear transitions compared to the rest of the story. Particularly when the big battle is about to start. This could have been cleared up with maybe 2 pages to help transition cleanly. But, other then that I'm truly enjoying this series.

I is sad.Dang, the book just came out and I'm already done, finished it before the sun came up. This was another amazing chapter in one of my favorite stories. I just wish that there wasn't a page limit as mentioned in the final words. I hate reaching the page limit! I've already pre-ordered volume 5!

Love this series, it is one of 2 series I really like. From commonplace to worlds strongest is the second one! I would recommend this book series if you like someone who comes in strong, but tries to hide his true strength and adapt to the new world.

If you're like me and got into the light novel because of the anime then this is definitely for you. New area, new characters to meet and places to save. So good, personally like the style the author has taken with the series.

Loved this series so far. I am an avid SciFi reader but turn towards more Epic and serious types of stories, but I have to admit that I LOVE this story! I enjoy reading a story of a character in GOD MODE and wandering through the world and saving people. Superman in the world of fantasy.Keep it coming.
