I am very disappointed with this book. I was looking for some games to play on my black and white kindle and thought this book would have what I was looking for. A few years back I was given my first kindle and bought some games to play on it and they were interactive. There was minesweeper, a snake type game and a favorite was sort of like a puzzle numbers game. I can't figure out yet how to bring it to my newer kindle ereader or if it would even work with the newer one. But this book has nothing like that. It's basically has puzzle and such but you have to pick a, b,c or d for the answer. I don't see how they can call that interactive. Not what I was looking for at all. It might be okay for others, but not what I wanted.
Puzzle solving plays important role in my quest for keeping my mind agile and the puzzles from The Grabarchuk Family are some of the best on the market.'101 Puzzle Quizzes' contains well thought-thru puzzles, arranged from easy to hard. As usual, many different types of puzzles are included, such as logical ones, math, spatial, etc. A new type of puzzles included in the book is typitoons. Typitoons are delightfully wicked visual puzzles, basically a picture drawn out of simple symbols, such as dots, semi-colons, etc. If you know what this is: :) , you know what a typitoon is. The object of a typitoon puzzle is to figure out what the picture represents. So far I breezed through typitoons, and I hope the next volume of puzzles will contain harder ones to solve :)Overall, this is another great offering from The Grabarchuk Family, that will keep anybody busy for a long while, and inclusion of new types of puzzles shows that the publisher was not resting on its laurels but has been actively trying to improve on the already great formula. And the book looks really crisp on my iPad's screen when I play it in the Kindle app.Recommended.
I love these puzzle books as they are real brain teasers. The puzzles test your ability to do math, your visual perception, your ability to calculate volumes of objects, fold objects in your mind and perceive what the resulting final form will be. Going through this book is entertaining and fun and at times a bit frustrating. You can really discover where your weaknesses are in doing the puzzles. After you make a selection as to what you think the correct answer is then you get to see if you are correct with an explanation as to why. If you get it wrong then you have to go back and try again until you get the correct answer.The puzzles are ranked and you start with the easiest puzzles and work your way on to the hardest so don't think you are so smart until you get to the end.The book works on the Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD, iPad, iPhone, Android, PC, Mac or other devices using the free Kindle App from Amazon. The puzzles are presented in HD so they are sharp images and the colors are rich in appearance. The images are also larger and easier to see than ever before. There is a version of this same set of puzzles targeted for E-readers with e-ink screens. The Grabarchuk Family never run out of ideas for new puzzle books! I can hardly keep up with it. I think I will have to quit my day job and become a full-time puzzler! Many's the evening I have sat down with a puzzle book, and the hours just seem to fly by as I find myself engrossed in yet another book full of brain-blitzing, spell-binding puzzles. The interactive nature of the books is so awesome, as you know right then and there that you have managed to solve the puzzle!You definitely need to go that extra mile to get the answer right, and each individual puzzle presents a new challenge in itself. You do get better at it though! I have found that I am becoming faster at solving them - having said this, they never cease to present a great challenge to the mind. You'll find it's like taking your brain to the gym - everything becomes easier to figure out, not just the puzzles!I find the skills I learn solving these puzzles have a tendency to affect my abilities in other areas of life, for example reading and arithmetic become easier, and remembering facts and other information becomes easier. It really "beefs up" your brain muscles!! So, quite apart from being enormous fun that absorbs you for hours on end, it is also evidently beneficial for your health.I've got all their books so far, and will continue to collect all the books they create in future - keep them coming!! :)
