Just reading about the success of author Adachi's previous titles alone made me pick up this first volume. This is the first of his works I've read, but so far I'm willing to give this series a chance.Without giving away the main spoiler in this 3-volume-in-1 release, the story revolves around a young boy, Ko. The first volume covered in this release is more of a backstory on his childhood, floating between his father's sporting goods store and his neighbor's coffee house. Readers are immediately introduced to his love interest in Waka, his neighbor and second oldest of four girls. Waka's interactions with Ko alone are enough to establish that they're gonna be the main pairing you're expecting while reading, but to bring it on home, you also find that they're born on the same day. It'd be cheesy in any other instance, but Adachi makes it work just well enough for readers to tolerate it.... but you'd be wrong to assume this manga is a full-on romance. As suggested by its genre alone (most shonen manga rarely delve that deeply when it comes to romance) its primary focus isn't on the possible couplings throughout the story, but moreso on the action, which in this case is baseball. The latter two volumes covered in this release are different from the first in that focus is less on the romance (which was only done in the first volume more to establish characters than the full story itself) and more on baseball--which will either make or break it when it comes to whether you should buy the release or not.Having read this 3-in-1 release, the overall tone of the series tends to that of your typical sports manga with the smallest doses of romance and suggestiveness (in the chapter title pages alone!) expected from your typical sports manga. Regardless, there's just enough charm for me to continue with the series.

There is no other work of manga that can match his.His work visualizes what it means to be young with romantic and touching languages of art.It is not just about baseball or love. It is about your youth, the most dreamful days in your life.The Cross Game makes you feel like you are 15 years old once again, you are in love with the cutest girls in the school, you can perhaps throw 100 miles fastball.It rejuvenates your most brilliant times in your life, reminds you of those days your life was a full of dreams and wishes.

When Mistusu Adachi published Touch in the early eighties, nobody thought that he will able to surpass that success. Touch inaugurated a new genre in manga: sports-romance. Adachi was a very successful writer in his early thirties, he had a lot of time in front of him, but he had set the bar pretty high, it took him almost 30 years to set a new standard.Cross Game is much more than a sports-romance manga. In his great style Adachi manages to talk about everything, and also to emulate life in baseball. Not just the win and lose passion but also the more delicate edges of life, as uncertainty, memories, melancholy.In Cross Game Adachi also remembers his own gone brother, because in this manga memories have even more weight than common life.The drawing skills of Adachi have not improved a lot since Miyuki but his narrative is much more accurate and effective. The Master only needs a few pages to transmit his idea and more.From the very beginning of the manga you cannot put it down. It really does not matter if you like baseball or not, I have not seen a complete game in 20 years or so, what does matter is to feel the feelings it transmits.Adachi is not well known in America but in Japan is one of the most famous mangakas of all time. I will strongly recommend you to read the best work of one of the best mangakas since the art was invented.Cross Game in short, is one of the best magas ever, you should not miss it.

Loved the manga and love the anime. It's touched on several aspects of people's lives. What it's like to loose someone and what happens when destiny lands a hand.

I read this manga quite a while ago. It is one of my favorites. So now I have bought the kindle version of it. I even liked the anime.

I love the series and I wish H2, Touch, Rough, Katsu, Mix and all of Adachi's works were brought over.

The artwork is classic, the story is engaging (if not a little melancholy). This is a manga for baseball fans, along with shoujo and shonen manga fans. Enjoy!

I loved it! it's a great story of growing up and baseball.If you like baseball or sports manga I'd recommend it to you!

I have used this book on three trips to Washington in the last three years, and have found it extremely helpful. While no book can of course cover an enture state, this one seems to hit so many beautiful and wonderful places, and a lot of less well known places as well. It guided me to many locations where I was able to do some beautiful photography, and was very happy with the results. Normally I do a ton of research before heading out on road trips, to figure out where, when, and how to photograph the natural landscape. This book does all the research for you! Almost all locations are accompanied by great photographs. Especially useful are the "photo advice" sections, in which the author tells you the best time of year and time of day to shoot most of the locations. Also provided are very clear directions to all locations. And, the book also provides information on nearby interesting locations. I found this book fantastic for my road trips. Greg is a great writer, and shows his personality in some of the humorous stories and remarks scattered throughout.

I haven't made the trip to Washington yet, will re grade if necessary. The book looks like it's going to be very helpful. There's a lot more detail on places than you get in a general travel guide, and he's got a great set of tables in the back rating sights by things like how hard it is to get there, worth seeing, worth photographing, etc. I've only read the sections on Olympic National Park, Columbia Gorge, and the route between, since that's where I'm going. His section on Olympic NP is so much better than Fodor's Pacific Northwest. Nothing about hotels or shopping, little about restaurants, just page after page of advice on great things to see.The first chapter is skippable if you do much photography. It's basic how-to-photograph stuff. The sights are fully described, and usually have notes about things like best time of day, suggested photo gear, or warnings about parking lots that might not be a safe place to leave your gear.The photos are so beautiful, but hard to see on a 7 inch Kindle. They're of such low resolution zooming in gives you a pixelated image. I sort of wish I'd gotten a hard copy so I could see the photos and photocopy the tables in the back.One or two of the distances seem to be wrong in the directions. For example, the book says Ruby Beach is 20 miles south of Forks, and every place else says 27 or 28 miles. I'd double check before driving.

This book offers a nice overview of photography opportunities for Washington State. As with other books in the series the printing is excellent and the binding is durable. The photos are nice. Some are even excellent. This is the fourth book by this publisher and the second by Greg Vaughn. I also have his Photographing Oregon book.In attempting to cover an entire state in one volume many things will, of necessity, get missed, so a Washington resident, such as me, will easily find holes in the coverage. However, I can't image a reasonable sized book covering every photo opportunity, especially as the book needs to somewhat of a general guide to the area.I have to say that I find Laurent Martres' Photographing the Southwest books by the same publisher to be a little better, though this is still very useful.

I wish I'd had this book and its companion, "Photographing Oregon," 30 years ago when I first started seriously photographing in the PNW! It's not a map book, and clearly states that it's meant to be used with a detailed map book, such as the DeLorme map books, but gives excellent directions on getting to the out of the way sites for good photography! It's not a photo book, just a guide to the best sites. You'll still need beautiful light to get photos like those depicted in the guidebook, as well as knowledge on how to use a good camera. You CAN take some good photos with your smartphone, but trust me, the photos in these books were taken with at least a good 35mm SLR. For its intended use, it a very good guidebook. It says most of the places are accessible by auto too, although some require some hiking.

I bought this guide because I like photography and because I bought a similar book by the same author for Oregon. The book is laid out well and has sample photos of almost every location described. One great feature is the author provides tables listing every site in the book and rates its photographic value and the difficulty in reaching each site whether by road or by hiking. It really helped with deciding which sites to pursue with limited time to explore. Although the driving directions are good, it lacks GPS data, but a little web research can fill in that missing piece of information if you really need it. I've used photo guides for other sections of the US and I have found this (and the Oregon sister publication) to be much better than most photo guides I have used previously.

Very beautiful and readable guide containing perfect photos, description of how to get and how to shoot, sights rates (its fantastic!) and other tips and tricks.One of the books you should have if you travel to Washington state, especially first time, and want to see and catch its incredible beauty.By the destination: Olympic and Cascades are revealed really good, San Juan Islands and Southwest WA as well. Central and Eastern WA are not so detailed, but the author briefly described Palouse, Spokane area and Channeled scablands in the guide. It's obviously more than enough for 99% readers.

I like it for a legit photographer's point of view. I have the two volumes for the South West & they have been useful in selection & planning for future photography trips. The reader is reminded that these guides don't have detailed extensive maps. This is the writers intention and it is strongly suggested that you get the detailed maps of the areas you plan on visiting.

I have read my fair share in this particular genre and my head is usually spinning ala Exorcism style rather than being enlightened. At the crux of it is understanding the *fundamentals* of the self-publishing world and the clarity of the content.With this brief primer, Joanna Penn breaks it down in a bullet by bullet point many aspects of the self-publishing world but more importantly advice for writers to keep focused and motivated, creating a battle plan on productivity and making a profit, as we'll as helping the newbie in how to navigate the multiple social platforms to maximize exposure and marketing yourself as much as your work. She provides excellent Note Benas on topics I would have never considered: like the legalities of self-publishing, audiobooks, blogging, the pros/cons of being picked up by an agent and ebooks vs traditional publishing--and everything in between. She provides many useful resources that are free on her website and references she utilizes as a fiction author herself.This book, however, does not provide HOW to write a novel. Instead, I would recommend K. M. Weiland's books on how to structure, write, plot, etc, your books.
